ABOUT ME

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

I have been in private practice as a licensed therapist for approximately 20 years. My Master's degree is in Counseling and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider (LPC, MHSP). Prior career experience includes community mental health, several years in the education field, and undergraduate studies in sociology and education.

WHY I BECAME A THERAPIST

I've always been interested in the human experience, relationships, psychology, and quality of life for myself and others. I enjoy problem solving, collaborating, and talking with people about things that really matter. Inspiration also came from my personal therapy experience in early adulthood, which was invaluable.

Having a private practice allows me to do meaningful, fulfilling work with others and have a balanced life. A healthy lifestyle, time for creative projects, and loved ones are all important to me. I mention this as I really enjoy supporting others who want to create better work-life-play balance - exploring this can be a part of therapy.

 A FEW PERSONAL FACTS

I am originally from California but have spent my adult life in Nashville. I enjoy making music, writing, gardening, home decor, being active, and getaways with loved ones. A handful of my favorite simple pleasures: drinking coffee outside in the morning; plants sprouting through the dirt in early spring, the first page of a new journal, and Astrud Gilberto records..

ONGOING TRAINING AND INVOLVEMENT IN THE FIELD

I am a member and past Chair of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute. I participate regularly in a Modern Analytic Group Psychotherapy training, which I have been doing for over a decade.

Each year I participate in trainings covering a variety of topics in the field. Some areas of post-graduate training include: Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dream Interpretation, Sexual Desire Difference in Couples, Grief, Breathwork and the nervous system, Trauma, Attachment, Couples therapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Transpersonal therapy, Ethical practices, and many more.
